Happy Friday!  I think I can speak for everyone when I say, this has been quite a week.  But there is less than a week until Thanksgiving, I am so excited!  Last year, I was in Ireland for Thanksgiving, so didn’t properly celebrate.  So I am very much looking forward to eating some turkey and spending time with my family.

Today, like every Friday, I have 4 classes.  Yes, I know, a tough way to end the week.  One of my classes today was our Pre-Practicum.  It’s always so nice to meet up with the other TEPers and catch up on our Student Teaching experiences.

To end the day, I have my Urban Education class.  To pass the time until then though, Elena and I got a study room in the Science Library to (try to) get some work done.

This weekend, I will be studying quite a bit.  Ty, Victoria and I have a Real Analysis exam Monday morning, so while all my friends are home for break, I will be in Dinand 🙁

Hello all! I’m back.  This week has been a crazy one.  Thanksgiving is approaching, and professors are trying to cram in as much as they can before break begins.

Tuesday, I started my day with observations at Burncoat, then ended with my Methods in Teaching class with Ty and Victoria.  Wednesday, I had three classes, and then took the time to catch up on schoolwork and sleep.

Today, I was able to go to Burncoat once again.  It was my first time observing Mrs. Farrington’s period 6 Honors Algebra 2 class.  I was able to help her with some grading, and meet some new students.  After that, I observed another teacher’s College Algebra 2 class, and then stayed after school to help with a math tutoring session, open to all students at Burncoat.  It was a great way to meet more of the students and teachers at the school.

Now, I am at rehearsal for Fools on the Hill as we are performing at Cool Beans at 10pm!  So close to the end of the week!  I’ll be sure to update you all this weekend.

Hello all!  My name is Carley Stebbins.  I am a senior Math major in the TEP (one of four).  I’m so excited to share my week with all of you.

Today was a typical Monday for me.  I started the day with my two math classes- Real Analysis (with fellow TEPers Ty and Victoria) and Dynamical Systems.  I then spent a few hours in the Science Library preparing for a test I have on Wednesday.

This afternoon I headed over to Burncoat High School, where I will be student teaching next semester!  I met with the head of Burncoat’s Theatre Department to discuss how I can get involved in their shows next semester.  So hopefully my blog post in 2020 will feature some work with that!

I then ended my day with my yoga class followed by rehearsal for Fools on the Hill, the acapella group I am in on campus.

Our rehearsals are always fun and a good way to end a long Monday.  Also, Fools will be be performing on Thursday at Cool Beans, so don’t miss it!

That’s all for now! I have to be at Burncoat for first period tomorrow, so it will be an early morning.  Can’t wait to catch you all up on the rest of my week!

Hellooo bloggers!! Sorry I have been MIA, the end of this week has been a whirlwind! For all those wondering, I did indeed finish all  four of my papers!! So my hectic week is officially over! I can rest for 2 days before the next one starts up again…

Yesterday, me and all my fellow TEP members had the amazing opportunity to hear seniors at Burncoat High School tell their incredible and inspiring stories.  It brought so many tears to our eyes. The experience was something that I will never forget. I have the pleasure of student teaching at Burncoat next semester along with my fellow TEPer Carley, and I am just so lucky to be apart of such an amazing community that does so much good for kids like we heard from yesterday!

Once we left Burncoat, it was time to get down to business! Senior ball was t-minus 4 hours away which meant we had to start getting ready immediately! It was so much fun to get all dolled up and go to a dance! I haven’t done anything like that since high school so it was really fun. All the TEPers were in attendance, and we tried to snag a photo of all us! Unfortunately, it was a crowded venue so we were only able to get one with a few of us. But we clean up nice, I’d say!

Well that’s all the time I have for the blog this week! It has been so much fun taking you along for my week! Next week is Carley, and you guys are gonna love hearing from her!

Happy Tuesday, y’all ! I am both relieved and distressed that it is Tuesday. I am happy because I am making excellent process on the aforementioned four papers, but sad because I still have so many papers to write, and Friday feels so far away…

Today was a good day, though! I have been making excellent progress on my four papers (yes I will continue to italicize the number because I cannot stress enough how absurd it is), and I had a wonderful time observing with Mr. Moore at Burncoat High today! I observed his last two classes of the day in which we discussed “The Masque of the Red Death,” a short story by Edgar Allan Poe. It was fun one because I love Poe, and two because the students seem to be taking a liking to me! One group of boys even asked me for help unprovoked! I mean sure, they yelled “hey” and snapped to get my attention because they couldn’t remember my name, but I will still consider this progress!

I was supposed to have a field hockey game but it was cancelled because of this horrendous weather, so with my extra bit of time, I treated myself and went to get a pedicure in preparation for Senior Ball, but also because this week has been stressful and I deserved it.

Helloooo everyone!! My name is Elena Arciprete and I am a Senior in the TEP program, and I am the lone English major in the group. All that really means is get ready for some serious talk about the 4 – yes you read that right four – papers I have to write over the course of this week! It will be a fun journey to take you guys on!

So I thought I would kick my blog week off on this lovely freezing Sunday night, because with my often hectic schedule, that is when the  school week really starts. Currently, I am in the library, preparing to hunker down for the rest of the night in hopes of knocking out some pieces of my numerous papers.

It isn’t completely nonstop, though. I do have a cabinet meeting for the Student Government Association, in which I am Co – Director of Residence Life and Housing, in a little bit that will serve as a nice study break for me. But then it is right back to the grind!

I am so looking forward to bringing you along for the ride this week! You will get lots of fun updates on my papers, my two different site observations at Burncoat High, and most importantly, you will get a sneak peak into my prep for Friday, as the countdown to Senior Ball begins today! It is gonna be a fun week guys!! Check back in later for more updates!

 

Soooooo, we lost the intramural basketball game. Sad! This weekend, I have been working as an Athletics Statistician Assistant for the College’s Department of Athletics. It was an exciting weekend to be apart of the team, as we featured two teams in the Patriot League playoffs – field hockey and women’s soccer. As for myself, I was working on the men’s and women’s ice hockey game and the football game. Personally, I think this is the best job on campus because I get to enjoy two of my favorite things – sports and math!

Now that it is Saturday night, it is time to unwind. So, my roommates and I do what we do best – play video games. It is a cool 29 degrees out tonight, and although we would normally make the trek up to the basketball gym or indoor turf, we decided to stay in tonight.

And sadly, that ends my week of posts. Lucky for you guys, I get to pass it off to Elena who is a blast!

Sorry for the delay everyone…like I said, I have been busy. This week has been crazy – daylight savings time, the decline in temperature, and, oh yeah, the school work. Fortunately, I have some great friends, and fellow TEP members to help guide me. Carley, Victoria and I, alongside other other friends, Tmac and Sumner, frequently collaborate on some of our math homework. Currently, we are all enrolled in Real Analysis, which is known to be the “hardest math class at the College.” We have found this to be true, while also somewhat of a myth, because, well…all classes here are pretty rigorous.

Later, Victoria’s attitude would come to change (as would mine), because the homework got a little harder. Carley, however, had not started it yet – so she was still having fun.

Thankfully, I was able to balance out some of this hard work with some hard playing. I have been lucky enough to be part of three intramural teams – dodgeball, wiffleball and basketball. We have already played a game for dodgeball and wiffleball (both of which we won, of course). And we have our first basketball game tonight! Tomorrow I will let you guys know how it went, will introduce you to my roommate Hiram (who is also in the Teacher Education Program), and get you geared up for some weekend action.

Hey everyone! My name is Ty Bramer and I am a senior math major in the TEP Prgram. I am thrilled to take you all through my week…stick around for some cool content – I like to stay busy!

So today I kicked things off by going to my morning math class. I really had to pay attention today because one of my classmates (who you have already come to know and love – Victoria!) fell ill over the weekend. No, she did not have too much candy, we are just at that point in the semester where everyone seems to be getting sick.

After that I took my talents over to my observation for seventh grade at Sullivan Middle School with Ms. Yayra Perkins. She is the perfect match for me. She has this calming presence when she is in front of the class, which I will need to see in her come spring when I am the one up front. To start the week this week, she decided to continue with her student-centered rotation stations. Now, I was not able to capture the action, but I hope you enjoy these photos of the layout of her classroom.

After observation, I paid a visit to my advisor so I can enroll in classes for the last time this Thursday. It is a pretty bittersweet feeling, as this is the beginning of the “firsts” of the “lasts”. Then I had a little chat with our Program Coordinator, Meg Ober, who has been so flexible and open to all of us when MB went on maternity leave. Then, we had a LOT of work to do. So now we are here with you all, watching my Cowboys lose to the Giants (insert eye roll emoji) and planning out the rest of the week.

This is my last post so I am glad to show you how the campus turns alive!

Friday to Sunday is Family Weekend. This means that there are several activities to enjoy oneself and dive into the Holy Cross community.

Before joining the Family Weekend festivities, my roommate and I went to Price Rite, a fifteen minute walk, to stock up on groceries. They have more vegetable options to choose from than Walmart (not sponsored). With a full fridge, I am ready for the rest of the week.

Immediately coming back,  I headed to an ALANA (African, Latino, Asian, and Native American) brunch hosted in the Hogan ballroom. The buffet had tasty breakfast options which included fruit, eggs, french toast, sausage and bacon to name a few. With coffee to finish off my brunch meal, I was ready for the day.

 

From 12:00 to 4:00 p.m., activities filled the Hoval ground. There were games, a food truck, a table setup with apple cider and boxes of pie, a decorative coaster painting setup, a pumpkin painting contest, and a photo corner area. I enjoyed pumpkin painting, picture taking, and hot apple cider tasting.

 

 

 

 

 

 

As soon as I finished my painting, I rushed to my first football game. We won thirty-one to ten. Woohoo!

At 4:30 p.m., St. Joseph’s Chapel became jam packed for Mass. Father Boroughs, S.J. delivered a thought-provoking homily, the choir sang heartfully, and the cellist played beautifully.

 

Right after mass, I went to Don Juan’s, a Salvadoran-Mexican restaurant, for dinner and in early celebration of my birthday. My brother arrived on campus in time to join my friends and I.

After tomorrow, I hope we can all returned refreshed to what awaits us.
